Pollinators for Tea 2 - Fertilitate
On the sea front at Garrucha harbour there’s a tiny patch of green with an unusual pink passion flower climbing up a lamppost, it’s an island in a sea of tarmac.
My brother in law was staying with us, we went for a walk along the harbour and as we came closer to this patch of green all I could hear was the buzz of bees drinking the sweet nectar of this unexpected oasis.
This particular bee, with her pointy toes and nose and her fur collar looked so sexy, and in a passion flower too! She didn’t notice me, she was too busy fertilitating that flower.
My highly detailed pencil study was printed onto tea bag paper using archival quality inks. I worked into this with watercolour paints, upcycled threads and wool. Continuing to layer, antique lace form the petals of the flower and a golden foil orb the setting sun. Upcycled fabrics, silk and felted wool, create the back drop for this sexy lil lady!
